Ukraine has regained full access to high-speed satellite communications for its military assets, marking the end of a week-long technical restriction. Defense Minister Yevhenii Khmara announced on Saturday that the country's monitoring systems now show stable connections for objects moving at speeds exceeding 250 mph.

The restoration of these speeds resolves a critical bottleneck that hampered front-line operations. Khmara stated that the Defense Ministry confirmed the service is functioning correctly for drones and other fast-moving equipment. This fix addresses the specific speed threshold required for the effective use of satellite links in high-velocity scenarios.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy verified that both standard Starlink and Starshield, the military-grade version of the service, are operating at the required parameters. He noted that the restoration began the previous night, with sufficient speeds available by the following morning. Zelenskyy emphasized that this connectivity is vital for front-line logistics and for defending against Iranian-made Shahed drones launched by Russia.

The temporary limits imposed last week caused measurable damage to Ukrainian military operations. Commanders reported the loss of drones and the disruption of missions during the period when speeds were throttled. The incident heightened tensions between Kyiv and Washington, particularly as questions persisted over which party ordered the interruptions to the system built by Elon Musk's company.

The technical fix arrives alongside diplomatic movements to end the war. U.S. envoys have initiated a new push for a conclusion, with Russia agreeing on Wednesday to resume three-way negotiations with Washington and Kyiv next month. Additionally, Kyiv and Moscow agreed on Friday to a localized ceasefire around the Russian-occupied town of Oleshky in the Kherson region, a truce brokered by first lady Melania Trump.

Khmara attributed the resolution to direct dialogue and Zelenskyy's diplomacy with the United States. He highlighted the importance of the restored service for military communications, logistics, and drone operations. Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to American and other partner nations for taking the issue seriously and facilitating the return to normal operations.
